Heliography – „The Woman with a Phone“

This unique artwork is part of my Heliography Project 1827–2027. It includes an original heliography, an intermediate negative, and a photo zine. The intermediate negative was exposed once in September 2024 — a process that translates the digital capture back into a tangible, historical technique.
Dimensions:
Heliography approx. 9 × 13.5 cm, mounted on a mat board (14 × 19 cm), and packaged in a handcrafted A5 box.
Materials:
Aluminum sheet, Bitumen of Judea, lavender oil
Process:
The heliography was created following the historic technique developed by Joseph Nicéphore Niépce in 1822 — a fusion of history, technology, and contemporary image-making.
Edition:
One of a kind, signed and dated.
This work preserves a moment between digital capture and analog memory — a trace of the real in the age of simulation.
