A Tribute to Joseph Nicéphore Niépce and the First Photograph in the World

Each Heliography is a handcrafted unique piece.

Using sunlight, I transfer internegatives onto metal plates coated with a special asphalt emulsion. This historical process is based on the early experiments of Joseph Nicéphore Niépce in 1822 and forms the foundation of the first photographic method that made permanent images possible. The internegatives I use are partly sourced from Google Street View, partly created with my smartphone, or produced through direct exposure.
